Founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in the 1850’s, Fifth Third Bank derived from the Bank of Ohio Valley. 3rd National Bank bought the Bank of Ohio Valley in 1871 and by 1900, a merger was created between 3rd National Bank and 5th National Bank which led to a new organization called Fifth Third Bank. With solid banking practices and outstanding service to their customers, Fifth Third has been highly acclaimed as one of the “strongest top performing banks in the country”. Since the late 1800’s, Fifth Third has acquired or merged with dozens of financial institutions across the U.S. bringing it to over $1.3 billion in 2011 Net Income on $117 billion in total assets.
