Reader Question – Why do I need to “add a new debit card” to my paypal?

Many of you like the questions and answers on this blog. I just found another one from ‘Allison Shubitowski’ who asks

I replaced my debit card recently and updated the information on my paypal. I made four successful purchases today, but I can’t figure out why I’m having trouble with this fifth purchase. At the top of the page, it says The seller will only ship to confirmed addresses. To complete this transaction, you will need to enter your information again. It also says: Link a new debit or credit card to make an instant payment. To complete purchase, please add a credit or debit card. You have 1 active cards in your account. So my question is, if I already have “1 active cards” then why do I have to add a new card? Why am I having trouble now, when I didn’t with the last four purchases?

Answer: If it’s a prepaid card then you do not have a confirmed address with PayPal. Prepaid cards do not require you to prove who you are or how old you are. Many sellers will not ship to an unconfirmed account.
