History

Brightwell was formed following the purchase of Prepaid Solutions (a division of West Suburban Bank) by a private equity group known as Navigation Capital Partners in December of 2009. Besides the corporate HQ in Atlanta, Brightwell has branches in Miami, Milwaukee and Chicago. navigation Capital is also based in Atlanta and focuses its private equity investment efforts on “middle market” companies with revenues from $20 million to $200 million. NCP is an offshoot of a private equity partnership with Mellon Financial. Goldman Sachs assisted NCP in acquiring the private equity portfolio of Mellon Ventures in 2006 and now has over $277 million in portfolio management.
