Frustrated with the options for reloading your prepaid debit card? Don’t want to use a GreenDot Money Pak or direct deposit? This summer, you may have another choice for reloading your card, as CashEdge, Inc. expands its Popmoney service to include prepaid debit cards.CashEdge works with financial institutions to provide funds transfer and other processing services. The company also offers the “Popmoney” service which allows you to send and receive money easily (as they put it, you can send money “as easily as you send and receive email and text messages”). The system allows customers to send and receive money using an existing bank account. If your bank offers Popmoney, you can send and receive money directly through your bank’s online and mobile banking site.
Today, CashEdge announced that it will be expanding the Popmoney service to allow prepaid debit card accounts to be used to send and receive money. The company did not announce which prepaid cards will use the service, but it did announce a partnership with TxVia, Inc. — a leading prepaid card processor. The companies announced that three of TxVia’s prepaid clients will begin using the Popmoney service this summer.
