MasterCard Rolls Out World Debit MasterCard with Fifth Third Bank

It was inevitable, with the huge increase in debit card popularity, and the decline of credit card transactions – a major debit card brand has announced a rewards debit card. On October 19, 2009, MasterCard (NYSE: MA) and Fifth Third Bank (Nasdaq: FITB) announced the Fifth Third World Debit MasterCard.

World Debit MasterCard cardholders are eligible for exclusive rewards offerings, including an exceptional rewards point program, and premium access to the MasterCard Savings™ program, an innovative savings program that provides U. S. consumer debit and prepaid MasterCard cardholders with significant merchant-funded discounts and special offers from thousands of merchants across the country. In addition, they can enjoy enhanced built-in security features and consumer protections for greater peace of mind when shopping. The Fifth Third Bank World Debit MasterCard also features access to Priceless.com/World, through which cardholders gain unique access to events and games and can take advantage of exclusive opportunities for hotels, shopping and travel.

The Fifth Third World Debit MasterCard is offered to holders of the Fifth Third rewards checking account (although the card can be added to any Fifth Third checking account). The $3.95 monthly World Debit MasterCard fee is waived with a Rewards Checking Account and $1,500 or more in monthly signature-based debit card purchases

We look forward to more debit card rewards programs in the near future!
