RushCard announced on July 11, 2011 in Cincinnati, another artist’s rendition of the popular Visa prepaid RushCard. This card, called the KLS RushCard was the inspiration of former wife of RushCard’s co-founder, Russell Simmons. Kimora Lee Simmons, a former fashion model and actress designed the new card with the intent of helping those who want to exercise their financial freedom feel good about their money.
With a sleek, new KLS logo atop an elegant, purple zebra print background and pink cascading diamonds, Kimona elaborated on the card’s design:
“Prepaid Visa RushCard users are people with style, flair and confidence. Why shouldn’t their money look as fabulous as they do?”
The new KLS RushCard joins a stable of seven different varieties including the Original Black RushCard, Black Diamond, Pink Diamond, Purple Diamond, Baby Phat and Dynasty prepaid cards. The cards are offered primarily online and are accepted anywhere that takes a Visa including retail merchants, online stores and even ATM’s. The KLS RushCard also offers the same convenient and money saving features as the original RushCard – free direct deposit, card-to-card money transfer, health care and prescription discounts, as well as an online money management tool to budget and track spending.
Russell Simmons said:
“The new KLS RushCard is a great addition to RushCard’s suite of offerings. Our members are not going to only love the new look, they’re going to love what they can continue to do with this card by taking advantage of its many free features.”
According to Wikipedia, Russell and Kimona split as a couple in 2009 and are the parents of two children. Together they launched the Baby Phat fashion in 1999 subsequent to the success of the Phat Farm brand. For those unaware, “Phat” is an acronym for Pretty, Hot and Tempting. Since parting with Baby Phat in 2010, Kimora has focused much of her energies on the KLS Collection, a line of chic and contemporary sportswear designed for women. In her spare time she is a philanthropist, model, spokesperson, designer and Tony Award winning actress. She also has a child with current husband and three-time Academy Award-nominated actor, Djimon Hounsou.
