The fast-growing, family-owned Sheetz convenience stores now offer a Tempo-powered rewards debit card that customers can link to their existing checking accounts. The new Discover card can be used at over 380 locations stretching across six different states.
Tempo’s partner, First Bank & Trust of Brookings, DS is a subsidiary of Fishback Financial Corporation and the backing behind the card. Sheetz customers can earn cash-back from various merchants and 2 cents a gasoline discounts at the pump after accessing Tempo’s web platform to sign up for the card. The Tempo web portal not only activates the cards, but tracks purchases and rewards as well.
Louie Sheetz, executive vice president of marketing, Sheetz, Inc. stated:
“Debit cards increasingly are the preferred payment choice of customers and we know they value rewards for purchases, so we’re very pleased to offer this innovative debit card. Tempo has consistently advanced the use of affinity debit cards and its technology along with the Discover payment network makes our program very easy to implement and convenient for our customers.”
Tempo claims that their unique software-as-a-service network that can link independent cards to checking accounts and offer rewards debit cards is the reason they are a leader in the industry.
Tempo CEO Mike Grossman said:
“Sheetz has long been an innovator in the convenience store business and will be able to leverage Tempo’s debit card technology to generate and reward customer loyalty. Our revolutionary Web-based program enables businesses to quickly and easily offer affinity debit cards, and for consumers to select a debit card that is aligned with the organization and rewards of their choice.”
